Install guide
Your order page has your QR code and install codes. The steps below explain how to use them.
iPhone (iOS 17.4 or newer)
- Open your order page and tap Install eSIM on this iPhone.
- Tap Allow, then Continue. Wait for "Cellular Setup Complete".
- Label the new line (e.g. "USA data"). Keep your home line as Default Line for calls/iMessage.
- Choose the new line for Cellular Data.
- Settings → Cellular → tap the new line → turn on Data Roaming.
- Optional: on your home line, turn Data Roaming off to avoid roaming charges.
Older iOS: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code, and scan the QR from another screen; or pick "Enter Details Manually" and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code.
Android (10 or later)
- Open your order page and tap Install eSIM on this Android. The system installer opens with your details filled in. Follow the prompts.
- If the button does nothing, update Google Play services, or use the manual steps below.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM. Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Download a SIM instead.
- Scan the QR code from another screen, or choose Enter details manually and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your order page.
- Turn the new SIM on, set it for Mobile data, and enable Data roaming on it.
"Device is locked" during install
This means your phone is carrier-locked, even if it has worked abroad before. Some carrier-sold phones block eSIMs from other networks until the carrier unlocks them.
- Check (Android): Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Network operators → turn off Select automatically. If only your carrier is listed, the phone is locked.
- Check (iPhone): Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock should say "No SIM restrictions".
- Fix: ask your carrier to unlock the phone (they will need the IMEI from *#06#). It usually takes minutes to a day. Your eSIM stays available; install it once the phone is unlocked.
- Also make sure eSIM storage is not full. Delete old travel eSIMs you no longer use.
Troubleshooting
- No signal after install: confirm the new line is selected for mobile data and Data Roaming is on. Toggle Airplane mode once.
- "Unable to complete cellular plan change": the eSIM may already be installed on another device, or the phone is locked (see above). Contact us if unsure.
- APN: normally automatic. If asked, use the APN shown on your order page.
- Need more data: open your order page and choose Top up.
